T4 gene 32 protein (or gp32 protein) is a single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) binding protein that is essential for T4 phage DNA replication and repair. It coordinately binds and stabilizes transiently formed ssDNA regions, playing an important structural role in the T4 phage DNA replication process. The protein is also widely used to stabilize and label ssDNA regions so that the structure of intracellular DNA can be observed using electron microscopy. Studies have shown that it can also improve the yield and efficiency of reverse transcription in RT-PCR reactions, as well as increase the yield of PCR products under certain PCR reaction conditions.
