Product overview

The AcuGenix™ RNA Fast Plant Extraction Kit is engineered for the rapid isolation of high-quality total RNA from 50-150 mg of diverse plant tissues, including samples from common species as well as polyphenol- and polysaccharide-rich tissues (roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruits, seeds, etc.). It is optimized for plant molecular biology workflows requiring reliable, inhibitor-free RNA input.

Features and applications

Features
  • Broad Compatibility with Challenging Tissues: Validated for both standard and recalcitrant plant samples with high levels of secondary metabolites (polyphenols, polysaccharides) that typically compromise RNA quality.
  • Safe, Toxic-Reagent-Free Workflow: Eliminates the need for hazardous phenol-chloroform extraction, β-mercaptoethanol, DTT, and DNase I digestion, reducing operator exposure risk and waste disposal burden.
  • Ultra-Rapid 11-Minute Protocol: The entire extraction workflow is completed in just 11 minutes following sample homogenization, drastically reducing hands-on time compared to conventional column- or phenol-based methods.
  • Efficient gDNA and Impurity Removal: The included gDNA-Filter Column removes genomic DNA and cellular impurities, while the Pure RNA Column I ensures high-efficiency RNA binding for consistent yield.
  • Exceptional RNA Purity & Integrity: Rapid lysis suppresses nucleases released during cell disruption to preserve RNA integrity. Isolated RNA is free of protein, genomic DNA, and other contaminants that interfere with downstream assays.
  • Culture Cell Compatibility: Also validated for high-purity RNA extraction from plant cell cultures, supporting diverse experimental models.
  • Seamless Downstream Compatibility: Purified RNA requires no additional cleanup and is directly compatible with the full AcuGenix™ line of reverse transcription and NGS library preparation kits.
Applications
  • Gene expression analysis via RT-PCR and quantitative real-time RT-PCR (qRT-PCR)
  • Transcriptome profiling and RNA-seq library construction
  • Plant pathogen detection and viroid RNA isolation
  • Northern blotting and RNA structure analysis
  • In vitro translation and protein expression studies
  • Molecular cloning and gene functional analysis
  • Microarray-based gene expression profiling
  • Non-model plant genomics and molecular breeding research

Across 20 plant sample types—including leaves, roots, fruits, and seeds—BR2B202 outperformed Supplier A in RNA integrity, with zero detectable degradation or genomic DNA contamination. The extracted RNA is ideally suited for downstream applications including plant pathogen surveillance, transcriptome sequencing, and molecular breeding programs.

Note: The absence of genomic DNA contamination eliminates the need for post-extraction DNase treatment, avoiding RNA degradation risks; high-integrity RNA ensures accurate quantification and reliable data for qPCR and RNA-seq workflows.

Extract Performance/Target Amplification Performance

Figure 3 Comparison of target Ct values via qPCR benchmarking. BR2B202 delivered lower Ct values than Supplier A across the majority of tested plant species, reflecting superior RNA quality and downstream amplification efficiency. For key horticultural crops including orange, spinach, and strawberry, BR2B202 showed a clear performance advantage; only rice samples yielded marginally lower Ct values with Supplier A, with BR2B202 maintaining an overall performance edge for plant molecular research.

Note: Lower Ct values indicate higher RNA integrity and purity, with fewer PCR inhibitors and better template availability; these results confirm BR2B202 supports robust gene expression analysis and variant detection workflows in plant research.
