Product overview

The AcuGenix™ Magnetic Microbiota DNA & RNA Isolation Kit is a specialized magnetic bead-based solution for the simultaneous extraction of high-purity pathogen DNA and RNA from diverse clinical fluid specimens. It is optimized for metagenomic (mNGS), pathogen surveillance, and molecular infectious disease research workflows.

Features and applications

Features
  • One-Tube Nucleic Acid Co-Isolation: Eliminates the need for separate DNA/RNA extraction workflows, saving time and preserving limited clinical samples.
  • Broad Clinical Sample Compatibility: Validated for reliable performance across whole blood, lymph fluid, urine, pleural effusion, ascites, and other body fluids commonly used in pathogen testing.
  • Proprietary Bead-Buffer System: Silica-hydroxyl functionalized superparamagnetic beads deliver high nucleic acid binding affinity under optimized conditions. Simple pH/salt adjustment enables efficient elution without phenol-chloroform extraction, ethanol precipitation, or spin-column handling.
  • Closed-Tube Safety Design: The entire workflow is performed in a closed system, significantly minimizing aerosol contamination risks and operator exposure to hazardous reagents, compliant with BSL-2 laboratory requirements.
  • Consistent High Purity & Yield: Rigorous lot-to-lot validation ensures stable nucleic acid recovery with excellent purity (A260/A280 ratio: 1.8–2.0), free of residual proteins, salt ions, and PCR inhibitors that compromise downstream assays.
  • Seamless Downstream Compatibility: Purified nucleic acids require no additional cleanup and are directly compatible with the full AcuGenix™ portfolio of reverse transcription and NGS library preparation kits.
Applications
  • Unbiased pathogen identification via metagenomic (mNGS) sequencing for bloodstream, respiratory, and central nervous system infections
  • Co-detection of DNA viruses, RNA viruses, and bacteria in clinical research samples
  • Pathogen antimicrobial resistance (AMR) gene and virulence factor profiling
  • Host-associated microbial community analysis in body fluids
  • Method development for clinical molecular diagnostics research

Performance data

Extraction Performance Comparison

BR2C102 AcuGenix™ Magnetic Microbiota DNA & RNA Isolation Kit: Figure 1: Extraction performance benchmarking with spiked pathogen strains
Figure 1: Extraction performance benchmarking with spiked pathogen strains. Five clinical specimen types were spiked with defined pathogen strains, followed by nucleic acid extraction using either BR2C102 (AcuGenix™ Magnetic Microbiota DNA & RNA Isolation Kit) or a leading competitor kit. Equal amounts of extracted nucleic acid were used as input for qPCR, demonstrating superior performance of BR2C102.

Note: BR2C102 is the catalog number for this product. Spiking experiments are the gold standard for evaluating nucleic acid extraction recovery, as they eliminate background interference from native clinical samples and accurately reflect pathogen recovery efficiency.

Compatible with Automated Extraction Workflows

BR2C102 AcuGenix™ Magnetic Microbiota DNA & RNA Isolation Kit: Figure 2 Comparative performance of manual vs. automated extraction workflows
Figure 2 Comparative performance of manual vs. automated extraction workflows. Blood, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), and swab specimens were processed via both manual and automated extraction protocols. All target analytes—including human reference genes, refractory-to-lyse Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and labile respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)—were reliably detected across both workflows.

Note: This validation covers three representative challenging targets for clinical molecular testing: refractory-to-lyse Mycobacterium tuberculosis verifies lysis efficiency, labile respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) validates protection of fragile nucleic acids, and human reference genes confirm extraction consistency. Equivalent performance across manual and automated workflows confirms the product’s seamless compatibility with high-throughput automated testing scenarios.
