mRNA Cap 2′-O-Methyltransferase GMP-grade (2′-O-Methyltransferase, 2OM) is a recombinant vaccinia virus DNA-encoded methyltransferase expressed in E. coli. It catalyzes the conversion of the Cap0 structure to the Cap1 structure by transferring a methyl group to the 2′-O position of the first nucleotide adjacent to the RNA 5′ cap, using S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) as the methyl donor.
This enzymatic modification generates Cap1-capped mRNA, which can further reduce the intrinsic immunogenicity of mRNA and improve expression of the encoded protein after transfection. Supplied with 10× Capping Buffer and SAM, this GMP-grade enzyme is suitable for high-quality mRNA capping workflows in research and bioprocess development.
